Sandwich Of The Week: Turkey Panini At Milk & Honey
Since opening on the corner of Newkirk Avenue and Westminster Road last summer, Milk & Honey has become a welcome addition to a part of the neighborhood in need of more places people can meet with friends and sit down for a casual bite, whether you’re in a hurry or you’d like to linger for a while. And with a menu of egg dishes, sandwiches, soups, and salads, it’s the kind of place you can stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We’re always on the lookout for a tasty sandwich, and their turkey panini ($8) fits the bill. The toasted and pressed sourdough bread has a nice crunch, and the turkey, Swiss cheese, and avocado is filling but won’t put you in a state where you need a nap after you’ve finished. The side salad adds a bit of needed green to your meal. The boards that a lot of dishes are served on look neat, though they can be a bit unwieldy, taking up a lot of room on a table.
The cafe has become a destination for parents meeting up with their kids in tow, teachers and staff from PS 217 across the street, and the laptop crowd. However, those hoping to get some work done on the weekends will need to find another spot, as Milk & Honey and its sister cafe Qathra on Cortelyou have both recently instituted laptop-free weekends.
Milk & Honey is located at 1119 Newkirk Avenue at Westminster Road, and is open daily from 7am-9pm.
