Saggy Pants, Laying Down & More Not Wanted At Mezini

If you were hoping to hit up Mezini for a pre-Thanksgiving meal and nap, you may want to look elsewhere.

Though you will still be welcome to eat in the restaurant at 492 5th Ave, you’ll have to save the lounging for later, according to a sign they’ve got posted in the window. The list of unwelcome things goes beyond the typical lack of shirt or shoes, and includes hats, saggy pants, sunglasses, and lying down.

Manager Santiago Figueroa explains that the sign is because they’ve had a few problems with people lounging around on the couches they have inside.

“Sometimes people come in and sit on the couches here and maybe start acting different — sometimes people will spend too much time in here,” he says. “This is really only when people start to do bad things, because other customers don’t like it. People can enjoy them. But people get a plate of french fries and they think they can do anything. Other than that, it’s not to offend anybody, anyone can sit and enjoy if you’re a well-behaved customer.”

So if you can keep yourself together, note that Mezini will be one of a few spots open tomorrow for Thanksgiving. They’ll be serving some specials while they’re open from 1pm-1am — and though they’ll have turkey, Figueroa says to expect a spin on the traditional, with items like lobster tail, salmon, and roast chicken as well.
