On Sunday night at 11pm, the entire route of the parade will become a frozen zone, with 12 different entry points. Between 11pm and 2am police will sweep the route.  There will be police check points at each entrance, including at Grand Army Plaza, where the first group will start to march at 6am, police say. Do not bring large bags, alcohol or guns.

Closest subways to the parade area:

Grand Army Plaza 4 & 5, Prospect Park Q & S, Sterling, Winthrop and Beverly Road on 5. Church Avenue stop on 5 will be closed from 6am to 8am.  No 2 or 3 trains in Brooklyn, take 4 or 5.

“Over 3,500 police officers will be assigned to the event, along with nearly 100 high-definition surveillance cameras and about 350 light towers. Civilians trained to mediate conflict will also be present” reports the New York Times.

The parade travels along Eastern Pkwy from Buffalo Av to Grand Army Plaza, then proceeds south along Flatbush Av to Empire Blvd.

Transit:

  • Trains operate on a Sunday schedule.
  • No 2 or 3 trains in Brooklyn, take 4 or 5.
  • Eastern Parkway station will be closed from 12 noon to 7 PM.
  • At Crown Heights-Utica Av 4 station customers can exit only through Schenectady Av end and enter only at Utica Av.
  • To avoid crowding at Franklin Av 4/5, use Prospect Park Q/S, Grand Army Plaza 4/5, or 4 at Nostrand Av, Kingston Av, Crown Heights-Utica Av or Sutter Av-Rutland Rd
  • Although subject to reroute, the following buses will take you to the parade area: B12, B14, B17, B41, B43, B44, B44 SBS, B45, B46, B46 SBS, B48, B49, B67, B69
