Ring In 2014 At A South Slope Bar

If you’re sticking close to home this New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, December 31), our South Slope bars are ready to help you start 2014 off with a bang. All events have free admission, and the bonus of being close enough to home that you may not have to find a cab at the night’s end!

Three Cheers For New Year’s
When: 9pm to last call
Where: Greenwood Park, 555 7th Avenue, between 19th and 20th Streets
What: Look for DJ Mikey Plams, Ben the Beyonder, and Stretch Armstrong, and drink specials all night long from Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey.

New Year’s Eve At The Monro
When: All night
Where: The Monro Pub, 481 5th Avenue, between 10th and 11th Streets
What: If you want “festive foolery and frivolous fun,” make your way to The Monro Pub. They’ll have party hats, noise makers, a free Champagne toast at midnight, drink specials, and more.

Fu*k That Sh*t
When: All night
Where: Mary’s Bar, 708 5th Avenue at 22nd Street
What: Ready to show 2013 the door? Mary’s is here to help. The bar is asking people to come fill out a ballot with their biggest complaint from 2013 and there will be three prizes (a $50 bar tab and two bottles of prosecco) given out to the three favorite complaints which will be called out on NYE. Also look for drink specials and a free Champagne toast at midnight.

New Year’s Eve With The Great Apes
When: 10pm ’til…
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: It’s an electro-funk dance party at Freddy’s this December 31 with The Great Apes, described as a mix between The Beastie Boys and Prince.

New Year’s Eve At Prospect
When: All night
Where: Prospect, 545 5th Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets
What: Watch the ball drop on Prospect’s big screen, enjoy a complimentary Champagne toast at midnight, and a free buffet after midnight.
