Red Mango Is Now Open For Frozen Yogurt On Flatbush Avenue

After many months of waiting, the newest frozen yogurt spot in Park Slope is finally open. Red Mango, a franchise of the national chain based in Texas, opened at 276 Flatbush Avenue on the corner of Prospect Place over the weekend.

If you’ve been to a Red Mango elsewhere (they have a couple dozen locations throughout the city), you probably know the drill — they’ve got self-serve, all-natural frozen yogurt and toppings that cost 59 cents per ounce. They can potentially have up to eight different kinds of fro-yo, and when we stopped in they had six (one machine was out of service): plain, pomegranate, mango (Greek style), white peach (Greek style), vanilla, and chocolate.

They also have a large menu of smoothies, from ones with fruit and yogurt to protein smoothies and ones just for kids (prices vary from $3.75-$5.95).

A tip if you’re looking to save a bit — if you stop in on Monday-Thursday (except holidays), you can get a dollar off when you spend $5 or more.

So how does it stack up to the many other options for fro-yo around the neighborhood? It’s got a mid-level tartness that reminds us of Pinkberry, though the topping selection doesn’t quite stack up to that spot. Also, the price is 10 cents more per ounce than the other places that charge by weight (Yogurberry, Yogurtland, Let’s Yo, and Pearl Gate). What it does have above the others is longer hours — Red Mango is open until midnight, so if you’ve got a late-night craving, this could be the answer.

Whether you’ll have that craving this month, as temperatures are expected to drop pretty severely over the weekend, is another matter. What do you say, are you into frozen treats no matter the weather?

Red Mango is located at 276 Flatbush Avenue, 718-622-2400. Hours are Monday-Friday 10am-12am, Saturday and Sunday 11am-12am.
