Recycle Your Old Electronics Saturday, October 19 At The Flatbush Food Co-op
Have an old computer or phone you’ve been meaning to dispose of? If you don’t live in a building that’s part of the e-cycleNYC program (and if your building is eligible, you should really apply!), you can still bring your unwanted working or broken electronics to Cortelyou Road on October 19 for a special recycling event with the Lower East Side Ecology Center. The event will take place at the Flatbush Food Co-op (1415 Cortelyou Road between Rugby and Marlborough Roads) from 10am-4pm.
Acceptable items include: computers (laptops & desktops, servers, mainframes), monitors, printers, scanners, fax-machines, copiers, network devices (routers, hubs, modems, etc), peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers, etc), tablets and e-readers, components (hard drives, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies, etc), TVs, VCRs, DVRs, and DVD players, Digital Converter Boxes, Cable/Satellite Receivers, portable music players, audiovisual equipment, video games, cell phones, pagers, PDAs, and other telecommunication devices (phones, answering machines, etc).
Unfortunately, home appliances including microwaves, refrigerators, air conditioners, and ionization smoke or carbon monoxide detectors will not be accepted. You can learn how to properly dispose of those devices, and answers to FAQs, here.
All participants will be entered to win a MacBook Air from Tekserve, and all Zipcar users who participate will receive $15 in driving credit.
