Q Line Overhaul & Service Changes Start July 8

There have been a lot of service changes to the B/Q as of late, but this one’s a doozy.

While info about changes has yet to be placed on the MTA website, the above sign was posted at the Church Ave. stop over the weekend. Originally reported to be starting in September, the rehab work to the Cortelyou Road, Beverley Road, and Parkside subway stations is now scheduled to begin this coming Monday, July 8, at 5am, when all Manhattan-bound Q trains will start running express from Newkirk to Prospect Park–all days, all times.

The flyers don’t give an exact end date, stating simply “Mid-Fall 2013,” but last we heard, the work was going to take four or five months. That would put it in at least October.

That’s only one direction, mind you. When this work is complete, you should expect four to five months of express Brooklyn-bound service.

We’re torn–while the work is sorely needed, the multi-month service change is gonna hurt.
