Purple Yam Now Open for Late Night Noodles and Dumplings

Starting today and continuing every Friday and Saturday night, Purple Yam (1314 Cortelyou Road) will be open late nights with a special noodle and dumpling menu. Stop by starting at 10pm, and they will stay open until about 1 or 2am, depending on how late people come in.

“Winter is always depressing anywhere,” owner Amy Besa says, “so we thought we would live it up because you only live once, right?”

Chef Romy Dorotan is working with Andrew Siskind on a menu that will feature their popular pork buns (cua pao), three noodle soups, one pizza, and a dumpling of the night, plus a San Miguel beer with a shot of soju.

This weekend is the soft launch, then next weekend they’ll add music to the mix. On January 18 at 10:30pm and on January 25 at 10pm, local pianist Alex Levin and his trio will be playing. If things work out, they hope to have music every Friday.

They plan to post the menu soon, so check their site and their Facebook page for updates.
