Puppets, Music, Volunteering & More This Weekend On 5th Avenue
As the weather warms up, the outdoor activities start arriving, and this weekend we’ve got a few great ones in our area. Here’s what to look out for at JJ Byrne Park, located at 4th Street and 5th Avenue:
Park Slope Family Festival
Saturday, April 25, 11am-3pm
Local organization Puppetry Arts is hosting a free festival that features Star Wars characters, meet-and-greets with puppets, live music, juggling shows, and more. There will also be some activities ($2), T-shirt decorating ($4), and a bounce house ($3). And try to get there early — there will be free goodie bags for the first 200 kids!
Spring Civic Sweep
Sunday, April 26, 10am-2pm
The Park Slope Civic Council‘s beautification event brings out neighbors interested in helping make out neighborhood a great place to live — help in weeding and mulching street trees; picking up litter; and painting out graffiti on lampposts (with adult supervision) all over the area. Plus, enjoy live music, learn about and sign up for the 2015 street tree census, and take home plants for your front yards and street tree pits!
E-Waste Recycling
Sunday, April 26, 10am-4pm
Bring old, broken, and unwanted electronics (see a list of what is accepted here) for reuse or disposal by the Lower East Side Ecology Center.
