Open to artists “at all stages of their career,” the residency program has 6-8 positions open for residencies lasting anywhere from four to ten weeks, starting in March. Selected artists will receive a stipend, along with studio space and supplies. The Macon and Eastern Parkway Libraries will be participating in the program, writes the BK Reader.

The program is open to English-speaking residents of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights, working in all media, “including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary, social practice, and architecture.”

Artists-in-residence will be responsible for putting together a workshop or program that engages local residents with art, or they may opt to create a piece of art to be hung in the African American Heritage Center. The program is co-sponsored by STooPS, and all artists will be able to enter a piece in STooPS’ Summer/Fall 2018 Artists program.

To apply, artists should send in examples showcasing their work by February 28, 2018.
