PS 217’s Spring Carnival Is Saturday & You Can Help Raise Funds For Free

This Saturday, March 1, PS 217 (1100 Newkirk Avenue between Westminster Road and Coney Island Avenue) will be hosting an Into the Woods Spring Carnival! The celebration will include a “fairytale fest” with food, arts and crafts, games, face painting, henna tattoos, and a carousel from 1-4pm, followed by a performance of the play by the same name from 4-5pm.

The school will also host a silent auction amidst the other festival fun, with all proceeds going to PS 217 activities–and they’re welcoming donations of gifts as well as skills from anyone who’d like to give. If you have any unwanted items in like-new condition (you know you got a few holiday gifts that just aren’t you at all), they’ll do better at the auction than in the back of your closet. Empty baskets or other pretty containers are also welcome to help with the auction display. Or, as PS 217 Parents Association Co-Vice President Audrey Walen puts it…

“Perhaps you have a special talent or skill you’d be willing to donate to the cause. Can you teach a beginner to knit? Can you teach an hour-long lesson on the guitar? Do you love to bake? Can you do magic tricks at a kids birthday party? Are you an architect or designer and willing to donate a few hours of your time?”
