PS 139 Chess Ninjas Rocked Last Weekend’s State Championship
The always incredible PS 139 Chess Ninjas did another outstanding job at the New York State Chess Championship this past weekend, bringing home great results and making their community proud!
Twenty-four students, from first through fifth grades, their coach, Ian West, and their parents made the trek to Saratoga Springs for the competition that ran all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Primary Reserve team, which finished in fifth place, included students Declan, Maya, Emma, Bea, Polly, Kalsang, Nevin, and Henry. Emma scored 5.5 out of 6 and landed the title of second place individual.
The Elementary Reserve team, which finished in fourth place, included Aowyn, Sonam, Ariana, Ngawang, Vivian, and Kristy. Aowyn landed a 4.5 out of 6, garnering her the 11th place individual title.
The Middle School Reserve team, which finished eighth place, included Alexander, Brian, Ryan, and Emmet. Ryan scored a 4.5 out of 6, ranking him as the 13th place individual.
The High School Reserve team, which finished eighth place, included Michelle, Aayushma, Ellis, and Rohit. Rohit received a 5 out of 6, securing him the 5th place individual.
