The Be Proud Foundation held its Seventh Passover Food distribution Wednesday afternoon at the Aqua Health Rehabilitation Center on Coney Island Avenue.

The organization’s executive director Raisa Chernina said 500 food packages, which included juice, apples, raisins, pickles, matzo, herring and beets, were handed out at the event.

“We don’t want people to not have food on this special holiday,” said Chernina, who noted that food was given out to Jewish and non-Jewish residents.

The event was made possible by donations from neighbors and local businesses, and was attended by elected officials such as assemblymembers Steven Cymbrowitz, Helene Weinstein, Pamela Harris and Bill Colton, as well as Community Board 15 Chairwoman Theresa Scavo and Democratic District Leader Mark Davidovich.
