Updated: Con Ed Investigating Stray Voltage On Newkirk Avenue
Updated 12:59pm Thursday, May 28: A Con Ed spokesman told us they have a team taking care of the issues with stray voltage on Newkirk Avenue, between E. 16th and E. 17th Streets. The specific cause of the stray voltage has not been determined, he said.
“It could be anything — we find sometimes a wire will be touching a manhole cover that will be touching something else,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman urged neighbors to stay clear of the site that has been cordoned off.
