Normally when “suicide” and “Verrazano Bridge” come across our alerts, the news is never good. This time there is something positive to report. According to SI Live, a man was successfully dissuaded from jumping by Tunnel Authority and Triborough Bridge officers.

The incident took place on Friday night at around 10:15 p.m. Security cameras spied a man leaving his vehicle on the lower-level Brooklyn bound side. The man began to climb a ladder when officers began to successfully call him back. He was apprehended and taken to Staten Island University Hospital.

Suicides have become a problem in recent years on the Verrazano. Since December 2011, the bridge has been the site of six deaths.

Kudos to the brave officers who talked the man down from his demise.
