Potato-Headed Bank Robber Makes Off With $40k

When we told you about the bank robbery last week at Valley National Bank at 1633 Sheepshead Bay Road, we couldn’t get much more information beyond “something happened.”

Well, it turns out that, according to a source, it was an inside job… sorta.

A teller’s boyfriend held up the bank while masking his identity behind a potato head mask. The dastardly spud made off with a whopping $40,000.

The story doesn’t end there, though. The crook’s gal pal who worked at the bank was interrogated until she confessed. The $40,000 booty was retrieved.

The kicker, according to our source, is that the teller was about to be fired anyway…

Of course, we haven’t verified any of this yet. We’re waiting for the precinct to return our calls, and we’ll let you know.

UPDATE (4/27/2010): THIS STORY HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE 61st PRECINCT.
