PopUp Dinner Returns To Prospect Park This Summer
One night last summer, you may have been strolling through Prospect Park and stumbled upon quite a scene — more than 4,000 people, all dressed in white, eating at fully set tables. Well, that scene will soon be replicated, as this “flash picnic” returns for another round.
PopUp Dinner Brooklyn will set up in a secret location in the park (guests are told where hours before the event) on Saturday, June 13. Organized by Hand Made Events, which does similar dinners around the country, they’ll have live music — last year, the special guest performer was Ben Folds — a DJ, dancing, and tables and chairs, but you bring the table décor and food and drink.
Because of all that, it’s no simple picnic in the park — you’ve got to nab a ticket to attend, though all proceeds go to the Prospect Park Alliance to help with ongoing care and maintenance in the park. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, April 21 (no price listed yet, though last year they were $35), but you can get discounted advanced tickets if you become a member of the Alliance by 3pm on Friday, April 17.
What do you think? A fun use of the park and a good fundraiser? Or do ticketed events not have a place in our big backyard?
