Police Shoot 23-Year-Old Man Holding A Knife In East Flatbush

This morning, police shot and wounded a 23-year-old man clutching a knife outside a Laundromat in East Flatbush.

An officer from the 67th Precinct shot Davonte Pressley, 23, three times in the torso after Pressley lunged at police wielding a knife, in front of 842 Remsen Avenue between Ditmas Avenue and Avenue D, just before 11am on October 26, say cops.

Police were there in response to several 911 calls for a man with a firearm and knife, according to reports.

The officers repeatedly ordered Pressley to drop the knife, but he lunged towards them with it still in his hand, said NYPD Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan.

Pressley was rushed to nearby Brookdale Hospital where he remains in critical condition. A knife has been recovered at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Pressley’s mother approached the scene of the shooting today screaming, “They shot my son, they shot my son!” according to witnesses, DNA info reports.

The shooting comes almost one week after a police sergeant fatally shot, Deborah Danner, a mentally ill woman in her Bronx apartment. Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill and Mayor Bill de Blasio called the Bronx shooting ‘unacceptable’, reports The New York Times.
