Police Looking For Man Suspected Of Shooting And Killing Wife

Police are searching for the man in the above photo in connection with a homicide that occurred in Coney Island on Friday night.

At approximately 11:15pm on May 26, police responded to a call regarding a shooting in front of 3708 West 36th Street where they found Ivelisse Alvarado-Genao unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her head, the NYPD reports. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s sister, Gisela Mora, told the New York Daily News that her mother had been out looking for Alvarado-Genao when she encountered the victim’s estranged husband, Gabino Genao, who confessed to the crime before fleeing.

“He looked my mom directly in the face and told her that he killed her. He has no soul,” Mora said.

Genao is described as a 30-year-old Hispanic male, 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds.

The suspect has been arrested multiple times over the years on charges including assault, aggravated harassment, and robbery, the Daily News reports. In 2007, he served two years in prison for assault.

The above mug shot, provided by the NYPD, was taken in November 2016 after Genao was arrested for criminal contempt.
