Police Hunt For Bensonhurst Woman’s Murderer, Say Victim Knew Killer
Police have identified the Bensonhurst woman killed by a gunshot wound to the head on Wednesday as Maryanne Rinato, 48.
Police found Rinato dead in the bed of her apartment at 19th Avenue near 67th Street with a single gunshot wound to the head. She was fully clothed, and there was no sign of forced entry or struggle.
Investigators believe Rinato knew the person who shot her. According to the Daily News:
Investigators at the 62nd Precinct have already interviewed several of Rinato’s friends and associates and are looking at a number of potential motives — including the possibility that the killing was connected Rinato’s previous drug arrests, according to sources.
Prosecutors said Rinato had been repeatedly arrested for drug possession since 1998. Her last arrest was in 2008, when she attacked a Coney Island police officer.
