Police Arrest Assailant Who Shot At Teen Four Times In July

Police have arrested and charged a suspect in the shooting of a 16-year-old boy that happened exactly a month ago, on July 25.

Joseph Ackwood, 20, shot at the victim four times at around 4pm outside of 2964 Avenue X in Sheepshead Bay, hitting him twice in the leg and buttocks. Ackwood then fled on a bicycle, according to police. He is charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Surveillance video shows Ackwood running on the sidewalk , gun in hand, in broad daylight. He then runs back to his bicycle and rides into the street, in an unknown direction.

The 16-year-old victim was transported to Lutheran Hospital where he remained in stable condition. Below is the surveillance video capturing the moments before and after the shooting:
