Fall has arrived and the weather is cooling off, but Greenlight Bookstore‘s event calendar is heating up with numerous on and off-site events to keep you busy this October.

The store will have Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri to sit down for a conversation with author John Burnham Schwartz at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 at St. Joseph’s College as part of the Brooklyn Voices Series. She will discuss her latest work,“The Lowland,” which has been short-listed for the 2013 Man Booker Prize. Later in the month, Greenlight will commemorate its fourth year of business with a celebratory weekend sale on Oct. 19 and 20, offering 20 percent off all weekend to thank customers for four years of support.

“We hoped we could become a real part of this neighborhood,” co-owner Jessica Stockton Bagnulo said. “And reality has exceeded our highest expectations.”

On Oct. 26, Greenlight will be at the Williamsburg food festival Smorgasburg and will feature Kings County Distillery founders Colin Spoelman and David Haskell, on hand to present their new book, “Kings County Distillery Guide to Urban Moonshining: How to Make and Drink Whiskey.”

“Smorgasburg has supported our product from the beginning so it seemed like a fortuitous confluence of friends and neighbors,” Spoelman said. “Greenlight has a great presence in Brooklyn’s book culture, so it just seemed like a great opportunity all around.”

Four & Twenty Blackbirds founders Melissa and Emily Elsen will present their new cookbook, “The Four & Twenty Blackbirds Pie Book: Uncommon Recipes from the Celebrated Brooklyn Pie Shop,” followed by a conversation with Edible Brooklyn Editor Gabrielle Langholtz on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

“We’re excited to share recipes and get feedback from people,” co-founder Emily Elsen said. “We’re excited to do it at Greenlight. It’s a whole new chapter.” The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and there will be free pie.
