Playtime In Park Slope: Upcoming Children’s Events
Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this week? From a live musical and a chance to invent stuff, to storytimes and crafts, there are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in our area:
Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, March 25, 10am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.
Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, March 25, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score yours.
Story Craft
When: Thursday, March 26, 3:30pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue
What: Kids up to age 5 are welcome to hear a story, then make a craft inspired by it.

Explore & Create!
When: Friday, March 27, 3:30pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue
What: Kids are invited to enjoy some fun arts and crafts projects.
How much: Free!
Invent Anything With Little Bits: Global Makeathon!
When: Saturday, March 28, 11am
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Got a techy/crafty kid? Here’s a chance to unleash their creativity with littleBits, which allow you to learn how to make stuff with electronics.
How much: Free!
Meet The Author Of Duck & Goose
When: Saturday, March 28, 11am
Where: Barnes & Noble, 267 7th Avenue
What: Author Tad Hills will read his story, about a duck and a goose who don’t really get along (at first!), and will be signing copies of his books. Plus, kids can enjoy some coloring activities after the storytime.
How much: Free!
The Rainbow Fish
When: Saturday, March 28, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: The book about a beautiful fish who’s not interested in sharing that which makes her special comes to life in this musical from the ArtsPower National Touring Theater. Kids will have fun, and learn about the value of sharing true friendship with others.
How much: Free!
Junior Volunteer Corps
When: Sunday, March 29, 1:30-3:30pm
Where: 9th Street entrance to Prospect Park
What: Families and elementary-school-aged groups to help with a range of projects to improve our big backyard, from bagging leaves to mulching greenspace and more, in an effort to inspire kids ages 6-13 to get some service experience and gain a sense of ownership in the park. Several slots are still available at the time of this posting — be sure to register, though!
3D Printing 101
When: Sunday, March 29, 2-4pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: In this all-ages meet-up, which organizers says is totally cool for kids, learn the basics of 3D printing.
How much: Free, but RSVP to ensure your spot!
