Playtime In Park Slope: Upcoming Children’s Events


Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this week? Explore the flora and fauna of Prospect Park, rock out to Rolie Polie Guacamole, or hear a Thanksgiving story. Details on those and other kid-friendly events in our area:

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, November 12, 10am & 10:30am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.

Kings Bay Y Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, November 12, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score yours.

Drum Along With Ivan
When: Thursday, November 13, 10am
Where: Two Moon Art House & Cafe, 315 4th Avenue
What: For the little budding rockstars at home! Bring the kids to get into the groove with Ivan.
How much: $7 per family.

Storytime
When: Friday, November 14, 10am
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Avenue
What: A weekly storytime has returned to Postmark! Stop by every Friday for some free fun.
How much: Free, but there’s only space for 20 kids, so arrive early to ensure your spot.

Nature On The Go!
When: Friday, November 14, 2-3pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Get out and enjoy nature! A naturalist leads children and families to areas near the Audubon Center to discover the flora and fauna in the park.
How much: Free!

Story Play
When: Saturday, November 15, 10am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Children from birth to age five and their caregivers are invited to hear a story and play with toys.
How much: Free!

Rolie Polie Gaucamole Homecoming Concert
When: Saturday, November 15, 10:45am
Where: ShapeShifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Place
What: One of Brooklyn’s favorite kids bands plays their first indoor concert since their summer tour. Expect kids (and parents) to get down to the catchy hooks, rocksteady beats, and a heavy emphasis on interactive movement. Author Melanie Hope Greenberg will also be on hand to read a story and sign books.
How much: $12 in advance for ages 1+; family of four $40; $15 each at the door.

Thanksgiving Storytime: The Great Thanksgiving Escape
When: Saturday, November 15, 2pm
Where: Barnes & Noble, 267 7th Avenue
What: Hear the funny, kid-friendly story about Thanksgiving full of family, food, and lots of fun at this storytime which will also feature activities.
How much: Free!

History In Your Hands: Paper Quilting
When: Saturdays and Sundays in November, 2-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Spend a cozy afternoon at Lefferts Historic House this month making your own paper quilt collage to add to their community patchwork quilt.
How much: $3 suggested donation.
