Playtime In Park Slope: Upcoming Children’s Events
Looking for some fun things to do with the whole family this week? From board games and a traditional Mexican dance performance to storytimes and sing-alongs, there’s a lot of cool stuff coming up through the weekend in the neighborhood. Details on those and more kid-friendly events:
Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, October 15, 10am & 10:30am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.
Kings Bay Y Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, October 15, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score yours.
Game On!
When: Thursday, October 16, 3:30-5pm
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids can head to the library to try out some board games. Games are available for sign out from the children’s reference desk.
How much: Free!
Sing-Along With Mary Jo
When: Thursday, October 16, 4pm
Where: Norman & Jules,158 7th Avenue
What: Rock out in the backyard with Mary Jo, whose tunes bring out the 0- to 5-year-old in everyone. In case of rain, call first 347-987-3323.
How much: $12 per family.
Storytime
When: Friday, October 17, 10am
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Avenue
What: A weekly storytime has returned to Postmark! Stop by every Friday for some free fun.
How much: Free, but there’s only space for 20 kids, so arrive early to ensure your spot.
Explore & Create: Arts And Crafts
When: Friday, October 17, 4pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue
What: A weekly, free drop-in program where kids and teens can roll up their sleeves and explore their artistic side.
How much: Free!
Folklore Mexican Dance
When: Saturday, October 18, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Outfitted in traditional costumes, dancers from the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company will perform selections from different regions of Mexico-Jalisco, set to the world famous music of the Mariachi.

Park Slope Civic Sweep
When: Sunday, October 19, 10am-2pm
Where: Old Stone House/JJ Byrne Playground, 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Sts
What: Get the family involved in the neighborhood cleanup! Help sweep up litter, spread mulch, and more.
How much: Free!
Storytelling With Tammy Hall
When: Sunday, October 19, 2pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Join storyteller and musician Tammy Hall this Sunday under the big tree at Lefferts House, as she delights families with tales from around the world.
How much: $3 suggested donation.
Ready, Set, Kindergarten!
When: Sunday, October 19, 2:30pm
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Families with children ages 3-5 will enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage the development of early learning practices by exploring literacy, science, and math through music, stories, art, and play. Families will receive free materials to continue the learning and fun at home.
