Pirates, Politicians And More At 2013 Park Slope Halloween Parade

The streets were overflowing with some pretty impressive costumes on Thursday night, as the 2013 Park Slope Halloween Parade rolled through the neighborhood.

Dressed as a mayoral candidate was Bill de Blasio, who was marching behind the grand marshall banner with his wife, Chirlane McCray.

Councilman Brad Lander was also on hand, but was definitely in the spirit of the evening’s literary theme with a fantastic Walt Whitman getup.

After the political parade ended, spectators received a real treat when a giant wooden pirate ship, captained by neighbors Chris Schneider and Ryan Powers, began firing a confetti cannon into the crowd.

One little boy standing nearby declared that “the pirate cannons are the best things ever.” The swashbucklers were just the beginning, though.

Rexy took a break from the Museum of Natural History.

Captain America can do just about anything, can’t he?

This guy totally gets our vote for best costume of the night.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

Climbing up the Empire State Building takes a lot out of a little monkey.

Even Sir Patrick Stewart joined the fun.
