Piramide Closed, New Restaurant Coming Soon

You think you’ll have all the time in the world to try a scorpion cocktail, and then it’s taken away from you. The sign has come down and the windows have been papered over at Piramide (499 5th Avenue), the 6-year-old Mexican restaurant that had been trying to shake up their business in recent months.

Our friend Leslie Albrecht noticed the change while passing by the other day, so we headed over to find out a bit more. A worker in the space told us that it’s a new place that should be opening next week, but that he didn’t know the name.

We’re hoping it’s just the Piramide owners continuing to try to shake things up. We’ve reached out to them for details, and will update once we hear back.
