After being closed for months, the Key Food at 1407 Foster Avenue, between Rugby and Marlborough Roads, debuted its completely redone space on Friday, August 7.

The store, which shuttered last winter, is larger and “everything was totally renovated,” the owner, Mike Said, told us when we stopped by on Friday.

“We have a full service deli now and a really good meat department,” Mike said. “And there’s a large selection of regular and organic produce.”

The owner also noted they’ve expanded their organic meat section and said he’s happy to talk to neighbors about any suggestions they may have to improve the store.

“We’re excited to be here,” Mike said. “This is a great neighborhood to be in.”

There’s an extensive selection of groceries, ranging from prepared Jamaican patties and fried chicken to rows of good-looking fruits and vegetables. We haven’t tried the food yet, so we’d love to hear what your experience has been so far with the quality!

The Foster Avenue shop will be celebrating its grand reopening with sale prices through Thursday, August 13 (you can find those in the circular at the front of the store). While many neighbors have told us how excited they are that the Key Food has finally reopened, others have said they’re disappointed to see the prices appeared more expensive than the C-Town by Newkirk Avenue and E. 16th Street.
