The Brooklyn Navy Yard has released photos of its new shuttle buses as part of its improved transportation system.

The Yard says its transportation plan will provide its growing workforce with direct access to all corners of the city. The brand-new shuttles can be tracked in real-time via the Yard’s new transportation app and will ultimately run every 10 minutes during business hours.

Also, the Yard anticipates smoother work commutes for the 7,000 people today and a projected 16,000 people expected to work there by 2020.

In February, the Fort Greene Focus reported on the Yard’s shuttle service expansion, linking riders to 13 subway lines, the Long Island Rail Road at Atlantic Terminal, as well as the proposed BQX streetcar connector set for construction in 2019.

The subway line connections are the  A, B, C, D, F, G, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, and  5 trains.

“This transportation plan will provide the Yard’s growing workforce with direct access to all corners of the city,” said Brooklyn Navy Yard President and CEO David Ehrenberg. “With our workforce set to double in the next five years, one of the Yard’s top priorities is connecting where our employees live with where they work. As the Yard grows, our transportation infrastructure will be strengthened to meet tenants’ needs.”

The new shuttle buses accept free transfers and will consist of “comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles that will provide efficient and frequent service” complete with free WiFi and a mobile tracking app, the Yard says.
