Photo Flashback: 4th Avenue And 15th Street Churches

Before the now-vacant Strauss building housed an auto center, it was home to a number of churches.

Greenwood Baptist built a church on the corner of 15th Street and 4th Avenue in 1874, and remained in the space until their current location, on 6th Street and 7th Avenue, was constructed in 1900.

The Norwegian Evangelical Free Church purchased the building in 1900, and in 1929 (when the above photo was taken), the church changed hands once again, becoming the Holy Trinity Armenian Church.

Today, a portion of the original building remains, but it might not be there for too much longer. The development property, on the market with CPEX Real Estate Services, is listed on their website as being “under contract.”
