Pet Spotlight: Misiu the Black Labrador Mix

We met Misiu, pronounced Mee-shoo, on a sunny spring day walking in Fort Greene Park with Izabela Socha, his owner’s sister. Socha said her sister and her fiance adopted Misiu, now almost two years old, a year and a half ago from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue.

They believe Misiu is a black Labrador and beagle mix, Socha said.

Socha demonstrated a few of Misiu’s tricks, including the commands “shake paws” and “act dizzy.”

Misiu means “teddy bear” in Polish, according to Socha.

“He’s a super submissive dog,” Socha said. “He’ll lie down on his back the first time he meets someone.”
