Permits Filed For A New Building At The Site Of The Former Angel Guardian Home
DYKER HEIGHTS – Barone Management finally purchased the former Angel Guardian Home for Little Children at 6301 12th Avenue in Dyker Heights in August for $37.5 million dollars.
For over 100 years, the property served orphaned children, until closing in 2003. Now it looks to be converted into a school and residences, including assisted living for seniors.
Barone Management is planning an expansive redevelopment of the 140,000-square-foot parcel, with the goal to develop over “100,000 square feet of residential units, over 100,000 square feet of educational facilities, and a large senior housing/assisted living component, for a total development in excess of 300,000 square feet”, company says.
Since the sale, permits have been filed with the Department of Buildings asking to divide the lot into three and to permit construction of a three or four story building with 132 residential units. So far the plans have not been approved.
