Performers & Zine Contributors Wanted For Having A Whiskey Coke With You
You might know that the free, monthly open-mic night Having a Whiskey Coke with You at Freddy’s Bar and Backroom (627 5th Avenue) is a great spot for writers, performers, musicians, and artists to hang out and share work — but did you know there’s also a zine that comes with it?
The event brings out some great fun on the second Wednesday of each month, and prior to that, neighborhood poets, writers, and artists are invited to submit to the zine. Here are the guidelines:
Writers: Send no more than 3pgs of material. Times New Roman, 12pt. font, single-spaced. .doc format is preferable. If your piece is longer than 3 pgs, consider breaking it up into smaller pieces to be published episodically, over the course of a few issues.
Artists: send your images – PSD/JPG/TIFF are fine and we need hi-res images to print! 8.5×11″, 300 dpi [keep in mind this is all in B&W]
All submissions should be accompanied by a short, 2 sentence bio.
Submissions should be in by the 3rd of the month to be included in that month’s zine.
You can also register to perform in advance — which is advised, as spots fill up quickly. The next event is coming up on Wednesday, March 11 at 8pm.
