Patsy’s Pizzeria May Be Opening In Park Slope

Looks like we may soon have an outpost of the famous Patsy’s Pizzeria right here in Park Slope. Tipster J points us to a recent Daily News article about the East Harlem pizzeria, which has been serving up coal-oven pies since 1933, where the current owners discuss expansion plans — including, apparently, a spot near Barlcays.

Along with their many existing locations around Manhattan and Queens and a future space planned for the Bronx, one spot they say is “in the works” is 450 Dean Street, between 5th and Flatbush Avenues, the 1,400-square-foot salon storefront that was listed for rent by Terra GRC.

“I feel like everybody knows the name and the quality of our pizza,” owner Frank Brija’s son Adem told the Daily News. “We’re just trying to bring it to them.”

One complication (or bonus, depending on how much you love pizza) may be that another pizzeria is already planned for this very block. The owners of Broccolino are opening Pizza Superstar at 446 B Dean Street, just three doors down from the potential Patsy’s space, which looks like it will be dishing up pies from a hand-made brick oven. And for your coal-oven pizza fix, it’s further afield, but the new outpost of Table 87 on 3rd Avenue and 10th Street is turning out some really terrific pies.

Is the demand from the Barclays crowd enough for two specialty pizzerias (and that’s not even including two other nearby options, Peperoncino and Franny’s)? Or will Patsy’s history and reputation be more of a draw?

We’ve reached out to Patsy’s for more info about the new location and a potential opening date, and will update as we learn more.
