Partners in Preservation Awards Announced

The popular votes from the Partners in Preservation competition are in and…our local long-shot, the stained glass windows at Erasmus, unfortunately didn’t come out on top. Here were the winners:

  • Brooklyn Public Library, located in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, received 9% of the popular vote and has been awarded $250,000 to restore the main entrance doors.
  • Congregation Beth Elohim, located in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, received 8% of the popular vote and has been awarded $250,000 to restore the building’s stained glass windows.
  • New York Botanical Gardens, located in the Bronx, received 7% of the popular vote and has been awarded $250,000 to restore the rock garden.
  • Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, located in the Bronx, received 7% of the popular vote and has been awarded $155,000 to restore areas within the museum’s gardens.

We can at least hop over to Grand Army Plaza and enjoy the library’s newly restored front doors after December 31.

But all hope is not lost. An advisory committee will still be divvying up an additional $2.1 million among other selected locations. Fingers crossed, Erasmus!
