Partial Building Collapse On 1st Street Injures Cop And One Other
A four-story brownstone on 1st Street near 7th Avenue partially collapsed this morning, leaving one person injured, and causing a responding police officer to suffer injuries as well, according to the FDNY.
Authorities tell us a call came in at about 11:45 am regarding a partial collapse of the interior of the building. One person suffered minor injuries, as did an officer who responded to the scene. Both were taken to Methodist Hospital.
According to the Department of Buildings, the brownstone was issued a class-2 violation for “failure to maintain the building in a code-compliant manner” in April, which carries a $,2500 fine. The violation remains open.
