Parking Meters Turning Into Bike Racks On Church Avenue
Have you seen the old parking meters getting turned into bike racks in our area? Neighbor JC Martinez-Sifre spotted a DOT vehicle pulling away from the curb on the northern side of Church Avenue just west of McDonald Avenue this morning after the agency finalized the retooling.
The old parking meters began to get phased out in the neighborhood last year, as the city started installing muni-meters. But rather than dig up all the old posts, in January the DOT announced it was planning on turning 12,000 defunct parking meter poles into bike racks, which we’re now finally starting to see in Kensington.
Bike riders, how do you like these racks compared to other variations?
