Update: Beansprouts Nursery School Will Not Be Opening In Ditmas Park

Update June 16: Beansprouts founder Sue Weinstein tells us, “With regret… we have decided that Beansprouts will not be launching a program in Ditmas Park this year. We made the decision after careful consideration of factors that emerged after our earlier announcement.

“Throughout this process, we enjoyed getting to know the members of Temple Beth Emeth and the families that reached out to us from Ditmas Park. Beansprouts of Park Slope remains unchanged and we welcome applications from all over Brooklyn. We regret not joining your warm and vibrant community at this time.”

Earlier: Beansprouts Nursery School, which has served Park Slope for the past 34 years, is coming to Ditmas Park! With classes starting this September at Temple Beth Emeth (83 Marlborough Road on the corner of Church Avenue), Beansprouts hopes to provide services for families in our area as well as Kensington and Windsor Terrace.

Preschool classes will be available for kids two to five years old (including kids turning two this calendar year), and Beansprouts will also host after school programs for local students. Extended hours will be 6:30am-7:30pm, and they are hoping to offer Universal Pre-K seats if city funding allows. Also our neighbor Jennifer Wilenta, Beansprouts’ yoga teacher of the past seven years, says she’ll likely be leading classes at the new location!

So there you go–another preschool option in the area. Until Beansprouts announces upcoming open house dates, you can find out more at admissions@sproutsbk.com.
