November is hopping! We have holiday bazaars, Tinder live, a craft show, and more! Don’t miss some of our favorite events from around the area:

Simon Critchley in conversation with Christian Lorentzen
When: Thursday, November 19, 7:30pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue, between Garfield Place and Carroll Street
What: The first novel from renowned philosopher Simon Critchley, Memory Theater is at once a precis on the history of ideas, an autofictional exploration of memory, and a comedy. When a French philosopher dies during a heat wave, his unfinished work lands on the desk of protagonist Simon Critchley. A major feature of the book is that it predicts the deaths of famous philosophers, Critchley among them. With his death foretold, Critchley sets off to construct an archive for his memories–a Memory Theater.

He meets a wizardly looking old artist who gives Peter a paintbrush to try out. Is it magic? Peter’s drawing of a wolf comes to life and bounds through the museum! The wolf leaps into a painting and Peter jumps after it!  Special guest actor, musician and clown Andy Sapora will narrate. Images from the museum’s great collection will accompany the entire concert in a video created by Natasha Kermani.
