Looking for some summertime fun this weekend? We’ve got plenty of great events happening in Park Slope, including outdoor concerts, boating, outdoor theater, roller skating, public radio celebrations and more! Check out all that and more below!

Calvin Baker in conversation with Hanna Tinti
When: Thursday, July 23, 7pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Calvin Baker’s new novel, Grace, tells the story of a war correspondent who quits his job and whose only desire is to feel beauty again. His search leads him across four continents and back into the chaos of war. Listen to Baker in conversation with One Story editor Hannah Tinti.

Blackwhite: The Adventures of Harap Alb
When: Thursday, July 23, 7:30pm
Where: Old Stone House, 336 3rd Avenue
What: Watch the kids in the Piper Theater Workshop perform Blackwhite. Told with music and dance, this is the story of a prince who travels into a faraway land whose throne he has inherited, becoming a slave to the treacherous Bald Man. Redeeming himself through acts of bravery, he is helped by sage old woman Holy Sunday, the tyrannical Red Emperor and a band of five monstrous characters who provide the prince with serendipitous assistance.

Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco
When: Friday, July 24, 7:30pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: As the early part of this week proved, July and August weather in NYC definitely makes for a ‘Cruel Summer,’ but our friends at Dreamland Roller Disco are embracing the heat with a celebration of ’80s pop hits on Friday night. Note that admission is restricted to guests ages 21 and older. For more information, or to buy tickets in advance, visit the Dreamland website.

What: Are you a little bit country? Don’t miss Jason Isbell, who The Wall Street Journal says “performs with an intensity that connects the listener to the deep and genuine emotions that inspire his work,” at the Prospect Park Bandshell on Friday night,

Row, Row, Row Your Boat In Prospect Park
When: Saturday, July 25 12-4pm
Where: Boat ramp on Wellhouse Drive, Prospect Park
What: Grab an oar and spend a lovely Saturday rowing around the lake in Prospect Park. Boats are available on a first come, first serve basis (no reservations are accepted), and life jackets are provided.
How much: Free.

Celebrate Brooklyn!: Sylvan Esso
When: Saturday, July 25, 7:30pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West at 9th Street
What: If you’re looking for “endlessly elastic and three-dimensional songs that conjure up dreamlike conflations of sen­suality and sexual depravity, homesickness and wanderlust, nostalgia and immediacy,” the only place you need be on Saturday night is Celebrate Brooklyn, where Sylvan Esso is scheduled to take the stage at 7:30pm.

Going Off Track: Live Podcast Recording
When: Saturday, July 25, 7:30pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Going Off Track is more than music podcast. Each week join television host Steven Smith, music journalist Jonah Bayer, television producer Mike Cangemi and audio producer Brad Worrell as they talk with your favorite musicians, celebs and industry insiders, allowing the conversation to derail wherever it takes them.

Michelle Buteau Comedy Central Album Recording

Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Born in New Jersey to Caribbean parents, comedian Michelle Buteau brings her unique perspective and big personality to the stage and screen. As a comedian, she has toured the country performing at colleges, clubs, and festivals. She has appeared on Enlisted, Key & Peele, and @midnight. She is the co-host of Big Morning Buzz Live on VH1 and recently taped a half hour special for Comedy Central.

Tape Festival: A Celebration of Public Radio
When: Sunday, July 26, 9pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street at 2nd Avenue
What: Tape Festival is a unique one-night event of storytelling and creative live performances, combining the intimacy of radio with a collective experience. It’s one big listening party, featuring producers from Planet Money, Reply All, The Memory Palace and more.
