Don’t wait until the weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from a “morbid” movie screening, “deep” stand-up comedy, and three bluesbands, there’s plenty going on in Park Slope this week. Below are some of our favorite events from around the area.

For even more things to do around Brooklyn, and to add your own upcoming events (some of which we’ll feature in this roundup in the future!), check out our calendar.

Finders Keepers: The Mysterious History of John Wood’s Amputated Leg, screening and Q&A with Bryan Carberry and J. Clay Tweel
When: Monday, September 21, 8-10pm
Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 3rd Avenue at 7th Street
What: When his amputated leg is discovered in a grill sold at a North Carolina auction, John Wood finds himself at the center of a worldwide media frenzy. Believing the new-found attention to be his chance at doing some great things in an otherwise disappointing, wayward life, he’s quickly swept up in the hysteria as the leg’s enterprising buyer, Shannon Whisnant, then sues to regain its custody. But the stranger-than-fiction chain of events, fueling John’s drug addiction and compounded by generations of his familial dysfunction, soon sets John on the streets and heading to his certain demise. Just in time, however, another twist in these fantastical occurrences gives John a final shot at becoming whole for the first time in his life. Finders Keepers premiered to great critical acclaim at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
How much: $8.

Deep-er-ness (Stand-up comedy, but deeper…er.)
When: Tuesday, September 22, 7:30pm (Doors) and 8:00 (Show)
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street, at 5th Avenue
What: Host Joe Zimmerman presents his favorite comedians for stand up sets that explore the more meaningful topics (i.e. philosophy, psychology, religion, environment, economy, death, love, childhood, race, history, social commentary, current events, personal stories, etc). After each set, Joe and the comic sit down for a “deep talk,” in which Joe and the featured comic sit awkwardly close and Joe asks them a few ridiculous questions. Performers include Hari Kondabolu, Nick Vatterott, Andy Sandford, and Michelle Buteau.
