What: Two poets — Diana Raab, who has written a new book of poems called Lust, and Nicole Callihan — will read in this sensual new series curated by Louise Crawford. There will be free cocktails, free gifts to the first 10 people to arrive, and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Film Screening: What Alice Found

What: See the Sundance award winning film by neighbor A. Dean Bell, who will be on hand for a Q&A after the screening.

Brooklyn Brass Fest
When: March 7, 8, and 9
Where: Brooklyn Conservatory of Music & LIU Brooklyn Campus
What: The first Brooklyn Brass Fest is a weekend of master classes, workshops, and performances dedicated to Lester Bowie (1941-1999), a trumpet artist interested in the music of the past, present and future. The weekend will provide a forum for brass players to discuss, perform, and educate one another as well as the general public.

Just Salad Anniversary
When: Saturday, March 8, 12-3pm
Where: Just Salad, 252 7th Avenue
What: It’s the one-year anniversary of this chain franchise, and they’re inviting the community to celebrate with a family-friendly party that will include face-painting, stroller cleaning, free Frava drinks, and 50% off smoothies and soups with a purchase of a salad or a wrap. Additionally 15% of all sales will be donated to New York Methodist Hospital’s Spirit of Women program.

Gotham: Writers In New York, With Ben Marcus And Rob Spillman

Film Screening: The Goddess

What: In honor of Women’s History Month, celebrate the Chinese film industry’s beloved silent-era actress, Ruan Ling-yu, who plays the title character, a nameless, unmarried mother struggling to support her son by being a prostitute in Shanghai, with tragic results. Featuring live musical accompaniment by Bernie Anderson.

Yoga For TASC

Where: Crow Hill CrossFit, 800 Park Pace
What: This 75-minute yoga class is taking place outside the neighborhood in Crown Heights, but it is a fundraiser that will directly benefit stray cats in our area. The foster headquarters for The American Street Cat is located here on 5th Avenue, and they help manage colonies in South Slope.
