Local parents and parents-to-be will soon have a new spot for shopping, classes, and more, as Wild Was Mama is opening a space on Bergen Street.

Adriane Stare opened the first Wild Was Mama in Greenpoint a few years ago, and will be adding this second location at 464 Bergen Street, between Flatbush and 5th Avenues, later this fall.

The new space will bring the same focus on empowering moms through classes on pregnancy, birth preparation, and parenting. They’ll also have a retail section, which includes toys alongside all the parenting gear — from maternity clothing to diapers to breast pumps (and rentals) — that new moms and dads could need.

Wild Was Mama is taking over a space that was previously used in a somewhat similar way — this storefront was, until this summer, home to maternity-wear shop Brooklyn Bump for the past eight years.

It’s been about a year since longtime mom-centric shop Boing Boing closed its 6th Avenue shop — have people been missing the services they provided, and will this similar shop fill those needs? Time will tell — we’ll keep you posted about an opening date.
