Palermo Pizza to Reopen on Corner of CIA & Cortelyou

Palermo Pizza Will Reopen

Palermo Pizza, located at 760 Coney Island Avenue at the corner of Cortelyou, closed in December 2011 for apparent nonpayment of taxes, but after some construction this past fall, it will reopen soon.

When we passed by the space yesterday, where a sign says they’re looking for help, a man working inside said the owner had been hoping to open this Saturday, but there still seemed like a lot to do, and he wasn’t sure exactly when the opening date would be. He did know one thing for sure — that the pizza place will sell $1 slices.

Convenient to kids coming from Ditmas Junior High a few blocks west on Cortelyou, that cheap price will be a draw. It will compete with the one other place with $1 slices diagonally across the street, Sultan Grill. But will it be worth navigating one of the most difficult intersections in our neighborhood to try the reopened pizza place?

Did you eat at Palermo before, and will you give it a chance when it reopens?

Thanks to neighbor Michael Milch for the tip!
