Pajama-Clad Toddler Found Wandering In Snow

A 2-year-old girl was found wandering in the streets in frigid temperatures Friday morning, wearing only her pajamas and clutching a bottle.

The toddler, who had been in her aunt’s care at the time, was spotted by a passerby on the corner of 67th Street and 18th Avenue at around 6:30am, cops said. The police were called and the child was taken to Coney Island Hospital.

Shortly afterward, her frantic aunt came to the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct to report her niece missing.

The New York Daily News reports:

The aunt said her brother, the girl’s father, had dropped off the toddler and that she and the child had gone to sleep.
When the aunt woke up, the girl was gone. She told police she had no idea how the tot slipped out of her apartment building.

The incident has been reported to Child Protective Services and the aunt was questioned, but no charges have been filed.

Officials do not believe the tot had been outside long.
