A thief traveling by skateboard stole a package from the front porch of a home on Buckingham Road, just off Church Avenue, last Friday. This is at least the third such theft — or attempted theft –made in recent days.

The skateboarding thief glided away Friday in broad daylight — at 4:22pm — with a 30-pound package left by Amazon. It was similar to a theft that occurred on East 18th Street on March 29th.

A reader just got in touch with us who thwarted another attempt made yesterday (April 12) by the skateboarding thief to steal a package left outside:

“Yesterday I caught the…thief stealing a package off…[a]…porch on E17, I chased him down & confronted him, made him give me the package.
I…have seen him skating around the neighborhood starting around since the first video was posted. He even tried making small talk to me once, and gave me some information about himself, but I do not know him personally. I…filed a report with postal police and gave detailed description.”

Area residents have been reporting the theft of packages left on their front porches for months. It is unknown whether all the thefts are being committed by the same person.

We have also reached out to the 70th Precinct and will report back with any comments they may have on this issue.
