The long shuttered on-again, off-again restaurant at 492 5th Avenue (between 11th and 12th Streets) now has a new name, a new menu, and newly opened doors.

La Royale Beer Burger House opened this week in the former Mezini spot. Owner Inne Reckovic says that La Royale Beer Burger House will offer “one of the best burgers in all of New York City.”

In addition to 12 different burgers, the new menu at La Royale Beer Burger House also features steaks, filet mignon, lamb, chicken dishes, and shellfish options. And salads are available as well.

“We’ll have more than just bottled and draft beer,” says Reckovic. “There will be wine, champagne, and a full liquor menu.”

The burger and brew place is Reckovic’s second attempt at creating a new restaurant since he closed Mezini — the former oyster and hookah place — in early 2015. We never received official word about what exactly led to Mezini’s closing.

Open for just over two years, Mezini had been shuttered for some time before we saw signs of life back in October 2015. Reckovic told us a new Italian restaurant would be opening up. “We plan to be opening in a few weeks,” he said at the time. That opening never happened.

Whether or not the new place will catch on is still to be determined.

La Royale Beer Burger House is located at 492 5th Avenue (between 11th and 12th Streets). Their phone is 347-689-4378. The restaurant does not have a website or Facebook page. Current hours are 11am-11pm on Mondays-Wednesdays and Sundays; 11am-4pm on Thursdays-Saturdays.
