Organic Kitchenette Headed To Sheepshead Bay Road, Across From Subway Station
Construction recently kicked off on what will be an “organic kitchenette” on Sheepshead Bay Road and East 15th Street, a long defunct property across the street from the subway station.
The interior of the property is being gutted and reconstructed to make way for the new business. A man who identified himself as the owner said it will be a kitchenette serving coffee, breakfast and organic foods such as granola bars “and things like that.” The small storefront will have a grill area for hot foods.
The owner said it will be open in a “couple of months.”
The property – owned by the MTA – has sat empty and neglected for at least five years after a flower shop at that location shuttered. Neighbors have complained to Sheepshead Bites over the years about rats, trash and a growing population of homeless people who camp out in front of the property.
With the arrival of a new business, we hope to see the corner rejuvenated. Best of luck to the owners, and we’ll keep our readers updated on their progress.
