Opening For Lakeside Water Features Area May Be Pushed Back From Memorial Day

After that bitter winter, hasn’t it gotten pretty muggy all of the sudden? This weather (okay, really, it’s lovely and we’re so thankful to not be wearing snow boots anymore) had us so excited that LeFrak Center at Lakeside‘s water play feature, the third component of the project to roll out for public use, was scheduled to open Monday, May 26 in Prospect Park — but it sounds as if that date could be pushed back.

Monty Ross, Senior VP of Marketing at Upsilon Ventures (which manages Lakeside), said his company is currently working alongside the Prospect Park Alliance to get Lakeside’s water feature up and running, which may not happen by Memorial Day after all.

When it does open, tentative daily hours for the center will be 9am to sunset. Park-goers can look forward to water jets spraying from the ground up in the center’s uncovered rink all the way through September, while their covered rink will also remain open to roller skaters for the summer. Admission to the water feature will be free.

We’ll keep you updated on the water play area opening. Until then, you can always bring the family to these 10 nearby playgrounds with water features.
