Residents in Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatlands, Midwood and Canarsie will choose from several candidates running in the 45th council district. Bklyner detailed their platforms and accomplishments last month in this article.

In alphabetical order, the candidates running for the 45th are Anthony Alexis, Anthony Beckford, Monique Chandler-Waterman, Farah Louis, Jovia Radix,  Hercules Reid, Xamayla Rose, Adina Sash, James L. Similien, L. Rickie Tulloch and Victor Jordan.

Some candidates began fundraising in early January anticipating that then-Councilman Jumaane Williams would secure the city-wide public advocate’s seat.

Williams won and vacated the council seat last month sparking another special election in his former district.

The winner of the special election in the 45 council district will remain in office for the remainder of 2019.
